When you are getting body waxing services of any kind you will not want to do any deep exfoliation, tanning, prolonged sun exposure, or smelly lotions for 24 hours before and 48 hours after waxing. If you are tanning cover the waxed area over.
If you are on Retin-A you will not want to do any waxing anywhere the Retin-A is applied. If you are on Accutane you will not want to do any waxing head to toe while you are on Accutane or for atleast six months after.
Do I have to do it all year round?
That is totally up to you. Once you've waxed two or more times you will notice how much it thins out and to shave in the winter and start over every summer is not fun. Not only for hair growth but for the pain factor.
How bad does it hurt?
There are things you can do to help the pain. Use the tend skin* three to four days prior to your appointment. Take a couple advil, which also helps with redness and swelling. You can even try to come 5-7days before/after your menstrual cycle. All these key things will help with the pain. If it helps I have heard I am the least painful waxer that my clients have ever been to ; ) See the testimony area!
Will I be irritated?
Some may stay red and irritated for up to 48 hours after. Average is 6-8 hours. I recommend that if you are doing it for a special occasion that doing the service atleast one other time prior to your occasion provides a cleaner wax** for the occasion. Another thing you can do if this is your first wax is take 3-4 Tums 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Some people retain acid in their body and the tums helps with this if taken prior to your service.
This is a product that is used to help open the follicle and resurface the skin. In doing this it helps the hair come out smoother without as much pain or nearly as many hairs break off. You want to use the tend skin 3-4 days before and after your waxing experience.
If you have ingrown areas or irritation it helps clear this up.
In order to get a cleaner wax you will want to use the tend skin and be sure not to trim or shave between services. When you shave your follicles can grow 2-6 hairs per follicle. Waxing takes the hair back down to one hair per follicle and the hair follicle also starts to grow less frequently and in patches. Also when you pull the hair from the root you are allowing the hair to grow in softer, whereas shaving causes the hair to grow in more coarse and even itchy.
